ASIST - Suicide First Aid
With a Royal Commission recently reviewing the increase in the numbers of veteran suicide in Australia, AVR is helping to confront the troubling trend of veterans taking their own lives. AVR has the privilege of partnering with LivingWorks Australia to help educate and encourage veterans and their families in what to look for and how to intervene with anyone presenting with signs of suicide type behaviour.

LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is recognised as the gold standard in suicide intervention entailing a two-day interactive and in-person workshop in suicide first-aid. People attending ASIST workshops learn how to initially intervene, how to work with someone to develop a personalised safety plan to keep them safe-for-now, and how to connect with further help. Attendees will learn a 6-task suicide first-aid model through trainer-facilitated workgroups.
