a brief history

AVR was founded by a former Royal Australian Air Force veteran who has had the pleasure of interviewing numerous WWII veterans when studying history in the USA.  He found this experience to be extremely rewarding for veteran, their family, and for himself. Since returning to Australia and at the passing of David, his neighbour and a Vietnam veteran, it was evident David’s family wished they knew more of his service in Vietnam and at home as it had affected his life greatly.  At David’s passing the untold parts of his story were lost forever.  This loss has inspired the formation of AVR and the goals that we have placed upon ourselves in recording Australian veteran stories.

We are based in Newcastle NSW and predominantly work within the state due to compliance issues.  We hope to expand our reach further in the future and build a team across Australia to record the stories of veterans nationwide.  This hope is born of passion and care for our veterans and their families.     ​
