We have attempted to answer many of the questions veterans, families and supporters may have for AVR regarding in person interviews or Suicide First Aid workshops, however, if we have not answered your question in the list below please contact us directly.

FAQs

Q - Does it cost anything to do an interview?

A - No.  Our generous donors help cover the cost to conduct interviews.

Q - How Can I book and interview?

A - Book an interview by contacting AVR on the "Contact Us" links on the website or by other means on the contact us page of this website.

 

Q - Does attending a suicide prevention course/workshop cost anything?

A - Yes.  Costs will vary depending on location and donations received to host the workshops.

Q - How long has AVR been in operation

A - AVR has been a concept for a couple years but was incorporated in Mar 2025, and approved as a Not-For-Profit in April of 2025.

 

Q - Does AVR operate interstate?

A - As of May 2025, no.  We are limited due to our registration of operating in New South Wales only.

Q - Can AVR do an interview via webcam/zoom call/teams online?

A - Yes, contact us and let us know that is what you would like to do and we can work around it.

Q - What experience does AVR have?

A - Our lead interviewer has conducted interviews with WWII veterans while studying History in the USA.

Q - Will AVR come to me/us to do an interview?​

A - Yes. However there is a specific criteria we would like to meet to help make the interview.

​

Q - What does AVR mean?

A - AVR stands for Aussie Veteran Records.  

​

Q - Does AVR help with other veteran entities such as DVA?

A - We can help direct you to them, but do not have direct relationships with them.

​

Q - How is AVR funded?

A - By private and public financial support.  We will also be looking at fund raising options in the future.

Q - Can I book in a family member for an interview?

A - Yes though we would need permission from the veteran themselves.

Q - What does AVR do with the interviews once they are completed?

A - We keep unedited versions and edited versions on our database, we send edited and unedited versions back to the veteran/family, and we send edited versions to the Australian War Memorial and Department of Veteran Affairs depending on authorisations made by the veteran.

Q - Where can we see the interviews once completed?

A - Each veteran and family will receive copies of the interview (raw footage version, and edited version), we will also be submitting an edited copy to the Australian War Memorial and Department of Veteran Affairs for record keeping, depending on the authorisations made by the veteran.
